British Virgin Islands wins at Caribbean Travel Marketplace

Tortola named best island to live on

Delegates from the British Virgin Islands showcased the islands attributes at the 30th edition of Caribbean Travel Marketplace at Atlantis Resort January 22 to 24. Representatives of Biras Creek Resort, Nail Bay Resort, Peter Island Resort and Spa, Scrub Island Resort, Spa and Marina, and the BVI Tourist Board staffed booths at the conference center.

Tourism director Hadassah Ward and British Virgin Islands marketing manager Lynette Harrigan, scheduled a series of appointments, explaining the advantages of vacationing and doing business in the British Virgin Islands.

During the two day networking event, sponsored by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, the British Virgins Islands received six “2012 Best of the Caribbean Awards” from readers of Caribbean Travel and Life Magazine. The Island of Tortola beat all other contenders, receiving first place recognition as the “ Best Island to Live on.” Other accolades included winning in the “ Best Destination” and “Best Snorkeling” categories. The Peter Island Resort was cited for both “ Best Romantic Resort" and “Best Luxury Resort.”
