The Caribbean Tourism Organization Foundation, based in Barbados (CTO) and the U.S. based Ryff Music, have partnered to create "Love the Music," a CD compilation that promotes Caribbean culture through music and spoken word.
The CD includes some of the Caribbean’s most well known musicians. Grenada’s Dollarman and Singing Melody from Jamaica, whose records have topped Billboard’s Dance Hall and top reggae charts join Kamau Georges, one of the BVI’s most talented artists and producers. You'll also find several stellar performers from the Bahamas, Bermuda, Carriacou, Dominica and Guyana providing a rich tapestry of calypso, dancehall, merenge, soca, salsa, reggae and junkanoo.
Listen to "Spread Your Wings" from the CD "Love The Music."
Contributing producers include Herbert Alexander from the U.S. Virgin Islands and Kamau Georges from the British Virgins as well as Dominica’s “Lazo” and Albert ‘Dvo’ Desilva from Guyana,
Ryff's Roger Carruth considers music to be a Caribbean cultural export. He says the CD's musical message centers around the diversity of the region, which includes its musical genres as well as artists' ethnicity and gender, reflecting the "One Caribbean."
"Love the Music" is being distributed through Redeye distribution, which delivers music in the U.S. to popular chains such as Best Buy and Borders. Redeye also exports records to Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia, as well as providing digital distribution service to iTunes, eMusic, Rhapsody and other digital music venues.
