Horse racing is popular on many Caribbean islands including Antigua, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, the Dominican Republic, Nevis, Jamaica, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Puerto Rico, St. Croix, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Some of the best racing in the Caribbean is at the Barbados Turf Club at Garrison Savannah near Bridgetown. The club sponsors three annual horse racing meets all surrounded by an upscale atmosphere, Caribbean dramatics and a hint of British charm.

Nevis holds monthly meets at the Indian Castle Race Track, which resembles more of a BBQ, and Carnival. Action over in Martinique is located at the Hippodrome de Carrère in Lamentin.

In Puerto Rico, world class events are held at the Hipodromo Camarero track. It is the site where the most famous race in the Caribbean has been held for 32 years on the first Sunday of December:

The Clasico del Caribe is celebrated with horses participating from all over the caribbean including horses from Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, and Panama.
