Perched on a hill overlooking Cane Garden Bay, Lighthouse Villas provides s a cool respite from the heat of the beach. The spacious spaces with white interiors, punctuated with hues of blue, no doubt contribute to the calming effect. But the influence of proprietor Malcia Rymer Bean cannot be ignored.

Rymer-Bean the keeper of the light, exudes an infectious enthusiasm, which she communicates to those who come to visit.

She says she has the best guests, stressing she treats them as friends, and enjoys those who return year after year.

Rymer-Bean, who has two children and two grandchildren, grew up in Cane Garden Bay in the late 1940’s, along with her sister and two brothers. Brother Quito Rymer, a well known, performer and entrepreneur, runs Quito’s Gazebo just down the walkway, which like the villas has been built on family land.

Rymer-Bean points out that Cane Garden Bay has long been a sailing community, which accounts for its genuine sense of hospitality.

She’s appreciative of her home, especially after exploring new frontiers, nursing in Barbados, and traveling to Europe and the states. She says it is sometimes good to get away but it’s always good to come back.
